Meet the coaches

11U coaches

  • Thom has been involved in volleyball for over 40 years as a player, coach, and referee. His passion for the game began in Dallas, Texas, where he started as a team manager for his sister’s varsity team before playing collegiately at the University of Missouri. He continued competing until the birth of his first daughter.

    Thom’s coaching experience includes club volleyball, head coach at Westfield, JV coach at Sheridan and Lawrence North, and varsity assistant at Guerin Catholic. This is his first season with Hoosier Elite, where he will lead the 11U team. He is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, strong fundamentals, teamwork, and a love for the game.

    Thom and his wife, Beth, have been married for 36 years. They have two grown daughters and are proud grandparents to three grandchildren.

  • Carly has three years of competitive club experience, and although her playing career ended earlier than planned, her passion for the game has remained strong. As a coach, she is committed to instilling a strong work ethic in young athletes. Encouraging them to work hard, stay composed, push through challenges, and never give up. Outside of coaching, she continues to play beach volleyball, runs half-marathons, and spends time with her husband and their dog, Russell.

12U coaches

  • Kaylee is a dedicated volleyball coach with 6 years of experience coaching Elite Club Athletes, working with ages 12 to 17. Since 2022, she has served as the Freshman Coach at North Central High School, and most recently serving as the JV Coach. Passionate about skill development and fostering teamwork, Kaylee is committed to mentoring young athletes, helping them grow both on and off the court.

    With a deep understanding of the sport, Kaylee excels in building technical volleyball skills and elevating players' performance. She places a strong emphasis on the mental aspect of the game, often quoting Yogi Berra: “90% of the game is half mental.” Her approach helps players build mental resilience and unlock their full potential.

    Having been a player, parent, and coach, Kaylee brings a well-rounded perspective to the game, understanding the challenges and joys from all angles. She is dedicated to improving players' form, performance, and sportsmanship, all while ensuring they maintain a genuine love for the game.

13-1U coach

  • Sara is in her first season with Hoosier Elite and is entering her second year as head coach at Lapel High School, where she led the program to its first-ever sectional title in her debut season. She previously coached at the middle school level at Lapel, building a strong foundation in player development.

    A former setter at Muncie Burris, Sara won state championships each year she played and enjoyed a successful club career, earning both national titles and runner-up finishes. Passionate about teaching the game, Sara brings energy, experience, and a love for volleyball to every athlete she coaches.

13-2U coaches

  • Coach Gonzalez has coaching career over 35 years that spans all level of volleyball from scholastic, to club, to collegiate level.  At the scholastic level, it includes JV and Varsity experience with several district titles, one regional title, and conference championship.  He has been a Division I Head Coach and Assistant at 3 different institutions, a Division II Assistant and Head coach, leading teams to NCAA 64 Team Tournament as well as stops at the Division III and NAIA. 

    Prior to University coaching, he had an 11 year tenure as club coach helping over 45 athletes achieve athletic scholarships, winning multiple USAV regional titles and multiple national tournament wins at the 16-18U levels. Stepping away from collegiate, Coach Gonzalez now exclusively does club volleyball and private instruction.  This is his first year with Hoosier Elite, and 4th year in the Indianapolis area coaching both boys and girls club teams with other local programs.

14-1U coaches

  • Samantha McArver brings over 12 years of coaching experience and a strong passion for developing athletes both individually and as a team. She restarted her coaching career at Westfield High School, serving as the freshman coach before being named head JV coach.

    Deeply influenced by mentor Emily Jackson, Samantha believes in developing the whole athlete—heart, mind, and soul—while carrying program culture with integrity, strength, and grace. She is currently the JV coach at Guerin Catholic High School and the Director of Hoosier Elite Volleyball Club.

    Samantha has been married for 15 years, is a mom of four, and enjoys family vacations, reading, and playing volleyball.

  • Ella Miles is in her second year of assistant coaching after playing volleyball for 6 years.

    Ella brings fresh energy and a deep connection to the game as a recent high school player herself. She relates exceptionally well to the players, drawing from the best attributes of her most influential coaches—such as encouragement, discipline, clear communication, and genuine care—and intentionally applies those qualities in how she interacts with and supports the girls on the team.

    She is passionate about helping young athletes grow not just in skills and performance, but in confidence, teamwork, and love for the sport. Ella focuses on building positive relationships, fostering a fun yet competitive environment, and guiding players to reach their full potential both on and off the court.

14-2U coaches

  • Megan is entering her 10th year of coaching and her first season with Hoosier Elite. Previously, she spent eight seasons with Ignite-Elite Volleyball and one season with The Academy Volleyball Club. A USA Volleyball IMPACT–certified coach, Megan is passionate about helping young athletes master new skills and experience the confidence that comes with accomplishment. Her coaching philosophy is simple: Never Quit.

    Before coaching, Megan earned a volleyball scholarship to Lees-McRae College, where she was a four-year starting outside hitter. Her teams competed in three NCAA Division II national championship tournaments, and she earned multiple Conference Carolinas honors. Megan also holds the all-time career kills record at Lees-McRae College.

14-3U coaches

  • Coach Nay brings over eight years of volleyball coaching experience, supported by her background as a former competitive player. By day, she is a dedicated electrician with 11 years in the trade, blending real-world problem-solving skills with a passion for teaching life lessons through sport. Spiritually driven, Coach Nay leads with love and emphasizes reflection, growth, and teamwork on and off the court.

    Known for inspiring young women, her leadership centers on building strong character and supportive team environments where athletes thrive with confidence. Off the court, Coach Nay is a loving wife, proud mother of a two-year-old son, and caretaker to five energetic dogs, balancing family life with a commitment to mentorship.

    Coach Nay combines technical expertise, real-world wisdom, and unwavering dedication to helping each player reach her fullest potential in volleyball and beyond.

15U coaches

  • Coach Nathan has four years of varsity assistant coaching experience at Lawrence North High School and three seasons as a head coach in elite travel volleyball with Team Indiana and The Academy Volleyball Club. His accomplishments include one conference championship and one sectional championship as a coach, along with two state championship appearances as a player.

    His coaching philosophy centers on putting players in the best position to grow and succeed. A true student of the game, Coach Nathan emphasizes understanding, skill development, and a strong work ethic. Athletes who bring great attitude, effort, and a passion for learning will thrive on his teams.

  • With over five years of coaching experience and a lifelong connection to volleyball, Coach Hannah brings knowledge, energy, and passion to the court. She began playing at age 10 and continues to play recreationally, keeping her love for the game strong.

    Coach Hannah is motivated by helping young athletes grow in confidence and skill, finding the greatest reward in seeing players achieve what once felt out of reach. She fosters a competitive, supportive environment where athletes can thrive.

17U coaches

  • Coach Hayley is a former Division I volleyball player with professional playing experience in Germany and nearly 20 years of coaching experience. After recently relocating from Utah to Indiana, she is excited to return to coaching and help athletes develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the game.

    Bringing a high-level perspective shaped by Division I and professional competition, Coach Hayley offers valuable insight as both a player and a coach. We’re thrilled to have her on staff this season and look forward to the impact she’ll make with our athletes.

  • Originally from California, Jared Barrera grew up playing volleyball through high school and continued at the college club level. Having played multiple positions—including libero, setter, and serving specialist—he brings a well-rounded understanding of the game.

    Now based in Indianapolis, Jared enjoys being part of the local volleyball community and can often be found on the court in his free time, especially during an intense pepper session with friends.
